Outside Activities and Getting Your Daily Dose of Vitamin D

Right now Josh and I are in between homes and at the current place we are residing we are without internet or wi-fi. For that reason (and that all our belongings are packed away in boxes), we have been spending our days up at the church to use wi-fi. Primarily because most of my NCLEX prep is over the internet which makes it pretty essential right now, but also because we are so boring that we have to have the internet to entertain ourselves.

Over the weekend we celebrated the fourth of July in our usual way by going to spend time with family at my grandparents who live in the country with lots of room to run and play and shoot legal explosives at each other. Because there are so many of us, it is just easier to hang around outside. We play badminton, ladder ball, wiffle ball, go fishing, jump hay bails, and eat entirely too much. After spending time with family in the great outdoors it always reminds me that I simply do not spend enough time outside.

So with that, here are some of my favorite Pinterest finds that make me so excited to once again have a backyard to play in:
(that is, if you haven't already seen these pinned a million times)

This blogger has a lot of games that look really fun! This idea of the giant Ker-plunk game is my favorite. How fun would that be with water balloons?

Outdoor Yahtzee: This blog gives a little tutorial on how to make these jumbo dice yourself. But if you aren't feeling crafty, I saw some large foam dice similar to these at the Dollar Tree just the other day!

Glow-in-the-dark bowling: This looks as simple as putting some glow sticks (which you can also find at Dollar Tree most of the year) into water bottles and using a heavier ball to bowl them down with.

Industrial Strength Unpoppable Bubbles: The picture is pretty self-explanatory. I am dieing to try these!

I couldn't find an instruction link to this, but it appears as easy as using a Twister mat and shaving cream mixed with food coloring. I have been hinting at Josh to play this with the Youth and I'm sure their parents will love us for it.

Giant Yard Twister Board. Perhaps you can combine the shaving cream version with this if you are having a lot of people over and feel okay about cleaning up shaving cream everywhere.

Moss Graffiti: I just love this idea. Of course, if you are a youth pastor's wife like me you may have to be sneaky about buying the beer for this project. They may not believe you when you are telling them what it is for :).

I hope you enjoyed these fun outdoor activities! Once I have a backyard of my own I will have to try them and perhaps blog about my experiences with each of them.

What are your favorite outdoor activities?

In His hug,
Molly
